The University of Cambridge operates on a collegiate system so students live within their college rather than in separate university halls of residence. Each of the 31 colleges manages its own accommodation. We collect from all of them: from King’s and Trinity in the city centre to Girton and Homerton further out. When you book, tell us your college name and the building or staircase you are in and your coordinator will confirm the access arrangements.
Cambridge Easter term typically ends in mid-June, earlier than most UK universities. Our collection team covers Cambridge Monday to Saturday. The route from our Grays facility via the M11 takes approximately 60 to 70 minutes and we run regular Cambridge route days throughout June and July.
A high proportion of Cambridge students are international or are from regions far from Cambridge. Whether you are returning to another part of the UK, moving to London for work, or flying home to another country, our service removes the problem of what to do with your belongings over the long summer break. We store them securely and deliver them to your new address wherever that is, on a date of your choosing.
ARU Cambridge students use the same service as University of Cambridge students. ARU Cambridge is based on East Road in the CB1 postcode, approximately one mile from the city centre. ARU accommodation is a mix of purpose-built student halls and private houses across CB1, CB4 and surrounding postcodes. Collection from all ARU addresses works on the same basis as college collections with the same pricing, same 16-week storage period, same international delivery options.

Getting Your Belongings Back from Cambridge Storage - Delivery, Shipping and Returns
Once your belongings are in storage, getting them back is straightforward. Cambridge students returning in October for the Michaelmas term can book a return delivery to their college or new address as soon as their room is confirmed. Students moving to London, another UK city, or returning home internationally simply contact their move coordinator and we arrange delivery to any address worldwide. Return deliveries to Cambridge and London postcodes are typically completed within one to two working days of booking.
Going Back to University Next Year?
This is the most common reason students use our service and it is the simplest delivery to arrange. When your new halls or student house is ready for you to move in, contact your move coordinator with your new address and your preferred delivery date and we will bring everything back to you. It does not matter if your new address is different from where we collected. If you were in student halls last year and are moving into a private house this year, we deliver to the new address without any issue. We recommend giving us at least one week’s notice for UK deliveries so we can confirm your slot, though we can often accommodate shorter notice if needed. A lot of returning students book their storage at the end of one year and have everything delivered straight to their new address at the start of the next, meaning they never need to carry anything themselves between years.
Moving to a New City or Town After Graduating?
If you are staying in the UK but heading somewhere new after graduation, we deliver your stored belongings directly to your new address. Whether you are starting a graduate job in Manchester, moving back to your family home in Cornwall or beginning a new chapter in a city you have never lived in before, we deliver from our Essex facility to any UK postcode. Distance is not a factor and you do not need to be in London or the South East to receive your delivery. Contact your move coordinator with your delivery postcode and we will confirm timing and cost within one working day.

Your belongings are then transported directly to our secure, CCTV monitored and alarmed facility in Grays, Essex, where they are stored for the duration of your package. How much does student storage cost?
Our summer packages run for 16 weeks from May to September and include collection from your door. A small student room package covering 15 sq ft costs £249 for three months, which works out at £15.56 per week. A large student room package covering 35 sq ft costs £399, equivalent to £24.94 per week. A full one-bedroom flat package at 70 sq ft costs £549, and a two-bedroom or house share package at 105 sq ft costs £699. All prices include collection from your door at the address you provide. After the initial three months, your storage continues at the same lower package rate rather than the standard pay as you go rate, so there is no price jump if you need to store for longer.
Is student storage with collection cheaper than renting a self-storage unit separately?
Yes. When you add up three months of standard pay as you go self-storage plus a separate collection service, the total cost is consistently higher than our packages. For a small student room, the comparable cost without our package is around £345, meaning our package saves you £96. For a large student room the saving is £138, for a one-bedroom flat it is £204 and for a house share it is £275. The saving exists because we include collection in the package price rather than charging it separately. We do this because the whole point of student storage is that you should not need to organise a van or make multiple trips to a storage unit at the end of term.
Can you deliver my belongings internationally after storage?
Yes. We offer international shipping from storage to destinations worldwide, including Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia, the UAE, China, India, Nigeria and many more countries. We manage all export documentation on your behalf and work with established freight partners to arrange door-to-door delivery. You do not need to have stored with us to use the international shipping service. If you are an international student returning home after graduation and your belongings are in your student house or halls, we can collect directly from your address and ship from there without any storage in between. When should I book for Cambridge - the term ends earlier than most?
Cambridge Easter term typically ends in mid-June, earlier than universities on the standard academic calendar. Most Cambridge students need collection in the second or third week of June. We recommend booking from April to secure your preferred date. June is a busy collection period for us across multiple counties, so earlier booking means more flexibility on collection date. If you are a postgraduate student or have a non-standard term end, just tell us your expected vacate date when you book.
Do I need to be present when you collect?
You or a trusted representative should be at your address at the agreed collection time. This allows our team to confirm your items, work through the loading efficiently and complete any paperwork with you before they leave. One hour of loading time is included in all packages. If your building has specific access requirements such as a porter lodge, a key safe, a loading bay booking system or parking permit arrangements, please let your move coordinator know in advance when you confirm your collection date. Our team are experienced with university halls and student accommodation across all the areas we serve, so most access situations are straightforward with a little advance notice.
What if my university is not listed on your county pages?
Get in touch directly. Our collection coverage is wider than the universities listed on the site and we regularly collect from campuses, private student streets and halls of residence that do not appear individually on our pages. If you are in London, Essex, Kent, Surrey, Hertfordshire or Cambridge, we will almost certainly be able to collect from your address. Can I get my belongings back when I return for Michaelmas term in October?
Yes. After the 16-week summer storage period, your belongings remain in storage at your lower package rate until you are ready for delivery. When your room in Cambridge is confirmed for October, contact your move coordinator with the address and your preferred delivery date. We deliver to Cambridge colleges and student houses throughout September and October. Return deliveries to Cambridge CB postcodes are typically completed within one to two working days.
What is the difference between self storage and collection and delivery storage?
Self storage means you transport your belongings to our facility yourself and can access them during our opening hours. Collection and delivery storage means we collect your belongings from your address, store them in our facility and deliver them back when you need them. You do not visit the facility at all. For most students, collection and delivery storage is the right choice because it removes the need to hire a van, borrow a car or make multiple journeys at the end of term. Our summer packages use the collection and delivery model. We also offer indoor self storage units at our Grays, Essex facility for students who prefer drive-up access or who need to retrieve items during the summer.
How far in advance should I book my student storage collection?
We can usually arrange collection within 48 hours of booking, but for summer storage we recommend booking as early as possible. Collections in May and June are our busiest period and popular dates fill quickly, particularly around end-of-term weeks at larger universities. Booking two to three weeks in advance gives you the best choice of collection dates and avoids the situation where your preferred date is already taken. If you are in a rush, contact us directly via WhatsApp or phone and we will do everything we can to accommodate a short notice collection.
Are my belongings insured while they are in storage?
Your belongings are held in our own CCTV monitored, alarmed and secure facility in Grays, Essex. We recommend that you check your own contents insurance policy, as many policies cover belongings in storage as standard or for a small additional premium. Some student bank accounts and university accommodation packages also include contents cover that extends to off-site storage. If you need specific storage insurance and your existing policy does not cover it, your move coordinator can advise on options when you book. Please do not assume coverage without checking your policy documents, as the terms vary between providers.
Do you collect from ARU Cambridge as well?
Yes. ARU Cambridge students use the same service as University of Cambridge students so its the same pricing, same 16-week storage period, same collection process and the same international delivery options. ARU Cambridge is on East Road in the CB1 postcode. We collect from ARU halls and from private student houses across CB1, CB4 and the surrounding postcodes. ARU Cambridge term dates are different from the University of Cambridge so check your own term end date when booking your collection.
Can I access my belongings while they are in storage
Yes, with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Access is available Monday to Saturday during site hours. Message your move coordinator to arrange an access appointment. If you have booked our collection and delivery storage service, your belongings are held in our managed warehouse area. If you think you may need regular or frequent access during the summer, our drive-up self storage units at the same Grays facility may be a better option. Ask your move coordinator to explain the difference when you book.
How long can I store my belongings for?
Our summer packages cover three months from May to September as standard. After the initial three months, your storage continues automatically at the same lower package rate rather than switching to the standard pay as you go rate, so you are not penalised for storing a little longer. There is no fixed end date and no requirement to collect at a specific time. You simply contact your move coordinator when you are ready for delivery and we arrange it from there. Year-round storage at monthly rates is also available for students who need to store between academic years or for longer periods.
Can I cancel my booking?
Before collection takes place you can cancel and receive a full refund minus a £25 administration fee. After collection has taken place the package is non-refundable. After the initial 16-week package period, you can cancel ongoing storage with 7 days written notice at any time.
