University of the Arts London is the UK’s leading arts university, a federation of six specialist colleges, spread across the city. Central Saint Martins is at King’s Cross (N1C), one of the most internationally recognised art schools in the world. Camberwell College of Arts is in SE5. Chelsea College of Arts is at Millbank (SW1P). London College of Communication is at Elephant and Castle (SE1). London College of Fashion has campuses in Holborn (WC1V) and Stratford (E20). Wimbledon College of Arts is in SW19. UAL students identify first with their college and second with the university and we collect from all six and know the location, access and logistics of each.
The six colleges span the full geography of London, from King’s Cross in the north to Wimbledon in the south, from Stratford in the east to Chelsea in the west. Camberwell (SE5) is approximately 21 miles from our Grays facility and London College of Communication at Elephant and Castle (SE1) is approximately 25 miles, both among the closer UAL locations to us. The Stratford LCF campus (E20) is approximately 22 miles via the A13. Central Saint Martins (N1C) and Chelsea (SW1P) are approximately 28 to 29 miles. All six are covered Monday to Sunday throughout May, June and July.
UAL students across all six colleges have creative materials that go well beyond standard student belongings. Central Saint Martins students may have large-format canvases, 3D sculptures, ceramic work, architectural models and industrial design prototypes. Chelsea students accumulate significant fine art works over three or four years. Camberwell students have photography darkroom equipment, print materials and bookbinding tools. London College of Fashion students have garments, fabric, pattern pieces, sewing equipment and mannequins. London College of Communication students have film and photography equipment, lighting rigs and camera kits. Wimbledon students have theatre costumes, props, scenic design models and performance materials. When you book, tell your coordinator exactly what you have, the more specific the better, and they will confirm the right unit size and loading approach for your collection.

Getting Your UAL Belongings Back - Delivery, Shipping and Returns
When you are ready for your belongings back, your coordinator arranges delivery to your next address. South and east London UAL colleges are typically reached the next working day. For international students returning home with original artworks or creative materials, we advise on packaging and handle all customs documentation as part of the shipping service.
Going Back to University Next Year?
This is the most common reason students use our service and it is the simplest delivery to arrange. When your new halls or student house is ready for you to move in, contact your move coordinator with your new address and your preferred delivery date and we will bring everything back to you. It does not matter if your new address is different from where we collected. If you were in student halls last year and are moving into a private house this year, we deliver to the new address without any issue. We recommend giving us at least one week’s notice for UK deliveries so we can confirm your slot, though we can often accommodate shorter notice if needed. A lot of returning students book their storage at the end of one year and have everything delivered straight to their new address at the start of the next, meaning they never need to carry anything themselves between years.
Moving to a New City or Town After Graduating?
If you are staying in the UK but heading somewhere new after graduation, we deliver your stored belongings directly to your new address. Whether you are starting a graduate job in Manchester, moving back to your family home in Cornwall or beginning a new chapter in a city you have never lived in before, we deliver from our Essex facility to any UK postcode. Distance is not a factor and you do not need to be in London or the South East to receive your delivery. Contact your move coordinator with your delivery postcode and we will confirm timing and cost within one working day.

Yes and this is one of the most important questions for UAL students across all six colleges. Over the course of a degree at Central Saint Martins, Chelsea, Camberwell or Wimbledon, students accumulate a significant body of work such as large canvases, sculptural pieces, ceramic work, framed prints, architectural and design models, photographic portfolios and more. Fashion students at LCF have garments, fabric, pattern pieces, sewing machines and mannequins. Film and photography students at LCC have camera bodies, lenses, lighting rigs and production equipment. Tell your coordinator exactly what you have when you book, please describe the largest and most fragile pieces, specifically. We will confirm the most suitable unit size (our 35 sq ft and 70 sq ft units are most commonly used by UAL students with significant creative work), advise on any packaging recommendations for fragile pieces, and plan the loading time accordingly. If you are an international student shipping original artworks home, we can advise on customs documentation requirements for your destination country.
How does student storage with collection work?
You book your storage unit online, choose the size you need and select a collection date. Our own team arrives at your address on the agreed day, whether that is a university managed hall of residence, a private student house or a shared flat. One hour of loading time is included in all packages, and our team will load everything into the vehicle for you so there is no heavy lifting involved. Your belongings are then transported directly to our secure, CCTV monitored and alarmed facility in Grays, Essex, where they are stored for the duration of your package. When you are ready to have your belongings back, you contact your move coordinator and we arrange delivery to any UK address or internationally. The entire process from booking to collection can be arranged within 48 hours in most cases.
How much does student storage cost?
Our summer packages run for 16 weeks from May to September and include collection from your door. A small student room package covering 15 sq ft costs £249 for three months, which works out at £15.56 per week. A large student room package covering 35 sq ft costs £399, equivalent to £24.94 per week. A full one-bedroom flat package at 70 sq ft costs £549, and a two-bedroom or house share package at 105 sq ft costs £699. All prices include collection from your door at the address you provide. After the initial three months, your storage continues at the same lower package rate rather than the standard pay as you go rate, so there is no price jump if you need to store for longer.
Is student storage with collection cheaper than renting a self-storage unit separately?
Yes. When you add up three months of standard pay as you go self-storage plus a separate collection service, the total cost is consistently higher than our packages. For a small student room, the comparable cost without our package is around £345, meaning our package saves you £96. For a large student room the saving is £138, for a one-bedroom flat it is £204 and for a house share it is £275. The saving exists because we include collection in the package price rather than charging it separately. We do this because the whole point of student storage is that you should not need to organise a van or make multiple trips to a storage unit at the end of term.

Yes, we collect from student accommodation near all six UAL colleges across London. Central Saint Martins at King’s Cross (N1C), Camberwell College of Arts in SE5, Chelsea College of Arts at Millbank (SW1P), London College of Communication at Elephant and Castle (SE1), London College of Fashion at Holborn (WC1V) and Stratford (E20), and Wimbledon College of Arts in SW19. Most UAL students live in private accommodation near their college rather than in shared university halls, we collect from any residential address. Do I need to be present when you collect?
You or a trusted representative should be at your address at the agreed collection time. This allows our team to confirm your items, work through the loading efficiently and complete any paperwork with you before they leave. One hour of loading time is included in all packages. If your building has specific access requirements such as a porter lodge, a key safe, a loading bay booking system or parking permit arrangements, please let your move coordinator know in advance when you confirm your collection date. Our team are experienced with university halls and student accommodation across all the areas we serve, so most access situations are straightforward with a little advance notice.
What is the difference between self storage and collection and delivery storage?
Self storage means you transport your belongings to our facility yourself and can access them during our opening hours. Collection and delivery storage means we collect your belongings from your address, store them in our facility and deliver them back when you need them. You do not visit the facility at all. For most students, collection and delivery storage is the right choice because it removes the need to hire a van, borrow a car or make multiple journeys at the end of term. Our summer packages use the collection and delivery model. We also offer indoor self storage units at our Grays, Essex facility for students who prefer drive-up access or who need to retrieve items during the summer.
How far in advance should I book my student storage collection?
We can usually arrange collection within 48 hours of booking, but for summer storage we recommend booking as early as possible. Collections in May and June are our busiest period and popular dates fill quickly, particularly around end-of-term weeks at larger universities. Booking two to three weeks in advance gives you the best choice of collection dates and avoids the situation where your preferred date is already taken. If you are in a rush, contact us directly via WhatsApp or phone and we will do everything we can to accommodate a short notice collection.
Are my belongings insured while they are in storage?
Your belongings are held in our own CCTV monitored, alarmed and secure facility in Grays, Essex. We recommend that you check your own contents insurance policy, as many policies cover belongings in storage as standard or for a small additional premium. Some student bank accounts and university accommodation packages also include contents cover that extends to off-site storage. If you need specific storage insurance and your existing policy does not cover it, your move coordinator can advise on options when you book. Please do not assume coverage without checking your policy documents, as the terms vary between providers.
Can I access my belongings while they are in storage
Yes, with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Access is available Monday to Saturday during site hours. Message your move coordinator to arrange an access appointment. If you have booked our collection and delivery storage service, your belongings are held in our managed warehouse area. If you think you may need regular or frequent access during the summer, our drive-up self storage units at the same Grays facility may be a better option. Ask your move coordinator to explain the difference when you book.
How long can I store my belongings for?
Our summer packages cover three months from May to September as standard. After the initial three months, your storage continues automatically at the same lower package rate rather than switching to the standard pay as you go rate, so you are not penalised for storing a little longer. There is no fixed end date and no requirement to collect at a specific time. You simply contact your move coordinator when you are ready for delivery and we arrange it from there. Year-round storage at monthly rates is also available for students who need to store between academic years or for longer periods.
Can I cancel my booking?
Before collection takes place you can cancel and receive a full refund minus a £25 administration fee. After collection has taken place the package is non-refundable. After the initial 16-week package period, you can cancel ongoing storage with 7 days written notice at any time.
